If you’re anything like me, you hate tripping over your own mess and having to look at all the things you’ve yet to put away. Sometimes, you can’t dedicate an entire day to cleaning and organizing (especially in the summer!). That’s why I’ve come up with four ways to declutter and organize your home, so you can clean without sacrificing all your free time.
Trash it
I don’t mean to throw it all out the window. Go room by room for at least ten minutes a day and collect items that need to be tossed. You might find more than you expected; these short-lived possessions accumulate quickly over time. This is a great method for people with too much clutter in their homes and are trying to figure out where to start.
Unusable things that you can’t donate should go in the trash or recycling; knowing what to trash and recycle is half the battle. Many scraps may be useless to you, but can be upcycled by professionals.
Donate it
The best thing you can do is put a small donation box in every room. That way, you can efficiently place any clothes or items in the donation bin when you’re doing your daily decluttering. I find it easy to donate items while I go on my weekly grocery run.
Remember, donating is the ultimate form of recycling, and it doesn’t take much time to place some items in a donation bin. Once you drop off your items, they’ll find a second life with someone new!
Free up space
Recently, I’ve discovered the wonders of door organizers. Their plain nature makes them fit with any décor, and it provides you with a place to put all your knick-knacks. Door-hanging shoe organizers and bathroom organizers free up space without having to put anything on the floor, and their clear pockets make them easy to find what you put away.
Who says you have to put shoes and toiletries in there? You can put them wherever you want and fill them with whatever you want! After a short while, you’ll have everything organized and more available counter or closet space. Don’t worry about putting everything away immediately; work at your own pace to achieve organization.
Practice consistency
The hardest part of following these tips is sticking to them. Encourage yourself to take a few minutes out of your day to declutter. The more often you do it, the faster you'll find yourself living in tidy space. And once you have the inside decluttered, consider giving the outside a little love with pressure cleaning central coast.
Often, even if we’re not doing anything, we can feel paralyzed by the weight of the choices we make. The worst thing you can do is beat yourself up for not getting it right all the time. So, take it step by step and go easy on yourself. Out of all four ways to declutter and organize your home, being kind to yourself is the best advice we can give.
