Upcycle: Finch's Threadless IPA Pin/Hair Accessory | the ReFab Diaries

Here's the second installment in the series of Finch's Threadless tutorials... a flower pin/hair accessory for spring.

For all the basics of working with aluminum cans (and the supplies you'll need) please see this tutorial.

Use a permanent marker and draw two basic flower shapes, one bigger than the other. Cut carefully!

Simple shapes combine into a really sweet pendant at this point. Not worthy of its own tutorial (literally cut the pieces, make holes, coat with dimensional magic and pop on a jump hoop when it's dry) but really pretty!

To make the pin, I didn't flood these pieces with Dimensional Magic - just edged them. Once they were dry, I bent the petals up a little. Once you've got pieces you like, get gluing. I'm a fan of multipurpose Tacky Glue but there are lots of metal / jewelry adhesives out there to choose from. Build the flower first - glue the two pieces together and add the flourish. Once it's dry, glue it into the brooch piece.

The hardware here is a metal brooch alligator clip. You can get them in sets at any craft store in the US - really inexpensive. Enjoy!
