Upcycle: Give ugly lamps a new life... | the ReFab Diaries

This post was, of course, inspired by the light fixture above (seen on Etsy- one ugly cord, a bulb and a few old books.  Not so hard to do if you're interested in trying a little bookfolding.  Anyway, it got me looking for other cool ways to hide ugly cords ... and otherwise upcycle ugly old lamps. Five more for you:

Doilies are back, it seems.  And I've seen a lot of really cool repurposing ideas that I'm collecting for a separate post.  But this lamp beats everything else I've stumbled upon.  DIY care of A Beautiful Mess.

It's as easy as it looks.  The remodelista DIY doesn't include any attempt to make it bend like this.  I think threading light-gauge wire through the beads would do the trick.

This project calls for a cheap base from target.  I think a cheap base from a thrift store (or your attic/basement/storage unit) is a better starting point.  Then, glue on the found wood. Again, it really is as easy as it looks.

I love this ... verging on steampunk somehow.  Head to Shelterness for the instructions.

This one made me laugh out loud and imagine the bizarre story you could tell if you chose your plastic figures wisely.
